Motor Selection for Modern Steel Gates
The weight of the modern steel gate was calculated before motor selection. Modern solid-panel gates are significantly heavier than traditional bar gates of the same dimensions - often 2 to 3 times heavier. An appropriately rated motor was selected to handle the gate actual weight with adequate safety margin.
Track System Installation
Bottom Track
A precision-machined steel bottom track was concreted into the driveway with careful attention to level and alignment, ensuring smooth gate travel without binding or wobbling.
Nylon Roller Wheels
Heavy-duty nylon roller wheels were fitted to the gate, running in the bottom track for smooth, quiet operation that protects both the gate and track from premature wear.
Motor and Drive System
A rack-and-pinion drive system with an appropriately rated DC motor provides smooth, precise control of gate speed with soft-start and soft-stop profiles for gentle operation that does not stress the gate structure.
