Hikvision Wireless Bridge Installation for Apartment CCTV Network in Kuching
HJ Security installed a Hikvision wireless bridge system to connect a Uniview CCTV network across multiple buildings of a residential apartment complex in Kuching, Sarawak. This project demonstrates how wireless bridge technology solves complex multi-building surveillance challenges without underground cable trenching.
The Challenge: Multi-Building CCTV Connectivity
The apartment complex consists of multiple residential blocks with a central security monitoring room. Connecting CCTV cameras from all blocks to the central NVR through underground cables would have required significant civil works, disrupting landscaping and costing substantially more than a wireless solution.
Wireless Bridge Solution
Point-to-Point Bridge Links
Hikvision wireless bridge units were installed at each building block and the central monitoring room. Each bridge pair creates a dedicated high-speed wireless link, effectively acting as an invisible high-bandwidth cable between buildings.
Bridge Performance
- Throughput – Up to 300Mbps per bridge pair, sufficient for multiple 4K camera streams
- Range – Effective range up to 500 metres line-of-sight
- Latency – Sub-millisecond latency for live CCTV monitoring
- Weather Resistance – IP67 rated for outdoor installation in tropical climate
CCTV System Connected
Uniview IP Cameras
Uniview IP cameras were installed at each building block covering entrances, corridors, car parks and common areas. All cameras stream their footage wirelessly to the central Uniview NVR in the security room.
Central Monitoring Setup
Security guards at the central monitoring station can view all cameras from all blocks simultaneously, with playback capability for all connected cameras from the NVR.
